Historical Significance

Recognize homeowners  whose homes were destroyed by German occupying forces during WW2 and did not have  resources to rebuild their properties. When Jersey opted to restrict building on the coast their property became worthless and they received no compensation and no recognition, probably the only category of WWII victims ignored.

We hope to provide a way to conserve an interesting piece of local history in a spirit of reconciliation.

Story submitted for publication to local Jersey newspapers.

WWII crime perpetuated by Jersey planning regulations.

The recent addition of a historical marker to what’s left of Elves Rest  near   L’Etacq Hill in St Ouen is the opportunity to shed light on a poignant aspect of my family’s history, a grave injustice caused by  World War II but perpetuated by Jersey’s draconian planning regulations.
